The ACA was very sad to hear of the passing of Pedro Lacerda. Pedro proudly served our country in the military an was one of the top Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructors in the southeast with Barra Brothers in Columbus Georgia. "I first met Pedro at the NAGA nationals last year and had the pleasure of watching him working with his students and watching them compete. This was in the spring of 2009 and Pedro had recently opened his school. After the tournament I interviewed Pedro and his students. I remember Pedro's students doing extremely well in the tournament. Pedro was a gracious and humorous person and an outstanding competitor and instructor. Pedro also served our country proudly and the world of grappling lost a great ambassador when Pedro passed away" says ACA President Matt "Granimal" Granahan. Pedro was a second degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Carlos Gracie Jr. Sadly Pedro passed away May 29 at Columbus Medical Center in Columbus Georgia. He was 30 years old. Our condolences go out to his friends and family. Here is the video we conducted with Pedro and his students last year.
