Submission Fighting for Amateur Wrestlers

Submission Fighting for Amateur Wrestlers reviews the best way for wrestlers to approach the sports of submission grappling and mixed martial arts.  We review in great detail and explination the best takedowns for an amateur wrestler to use in submission fighting, ways to beat the guard and half guard and a comprehensive display of the best submission holds for amateur wrestlers and the positions where a wrestler can utilize these holds.  These techniques are demonstrated by Steve Volponi and Matthew Granahan.  Steve Volponi is a former two time South Carolina state wrestling champion and high school wrestling coach.  Steve went on to wrestle for Anderson College for four years where he captured the Pembroke Open Southern Classic championship.  Steve has gone on to compete in submission fighting capturing the HookShoot Light Heavyweight Submission Championship winning ShootHook's 2009 tournament in Madison, Mississippi.  Steve was also a silver medalist at the Inkosi Pennsylvania state grappling championship.  Steve's submission coach, American Combat Association President Matthew "Granimal" Granahan, is a former Nutmeg Open Freestyle wrestling champion and judo player who also made the transition to submission fighting capturing the Copa Florida Submission and Southeast Open Submission championships.  The Granimal was trained in submission fighting by Olympic and World Abu Dhabi Submission champion and undefeated mixed martial artist Kamal Shalorus.  Kamal is also the American Combat Association's official grappling instructor.  Granimal has also taken instruction from legendary American take on all comers carnival wrestlers Billy "Pops" Wicks and Frankie Cain.  Matt and Steve take you through their journey from amateur wrestling to submission fighting and explain in vivid detail the techniques they have utilized to be successful.
